Thursday Evening, June 6 - Ansbacher Lecture

The traditional kick-off of the Annual Conference is the Ansbacher Lecture. The session starts at 7:00 PM and will be followed by a reception.

At 7:00 PM, Begum Verjee opens the conference with the Ansbacher Lecture - “Disrupting Vertical Worldviews in pursuit of Social Interest” (CE eligible).

Begum Verjee, Ed.D., M.Ed., PCC will explore vertical worldviews that support systems of power and privilege which permeate North American society and all its institutions. Disrupting these vertical worldviews provides us with a vision for a just and democratic society, a move towards allyship and social equality through a commitment to social interest.

A reception with light hors d’oeuvres will follow the lecture.

Friday June 7 - General Conference Sessions

The main two-day conference starts today with sessions starting at 8:00 AM and ending at 5:00 PM.

Plenary Session

Noah Thorne, MA and Ali Cunningham Abbott, PhD, LMHC, QS will moderate a panel discussion titled “Advocating for our BIPOC, Trans & Queer Community”

Given the current political climate in Florida, it is important to stay informed about and connected with folks who are already doing great work despite being the target of legislative change & medical bans. In this session, participants will learn about the measures enacted in Florida that directly impact the BIPOC, trans & queer community and how the community has responded from those directly involved in this work. We will then go on to describe the unique needs and resilience factors among the community and finally, discuss how Adlerians can support BIPOC trans & queer clients and community members.

Special Post-Lunch Session Honoring the Alfred Adler School in FL

The Adler School of St. Petersburg, Florida opened in 2008 with the goal of offering families a school that operates as a true community: where students feel belonging, where their contribution is not only welcomed but expected, and where their voices are heard. Project- based curriculum provides students with “choice and responsibility for their education, along with guidance, encouragement and support from parents and teachers.”

In our lunchtime session, school leaders will provide an overview of the school’s history and mission, and daily practices. Join us for an engaging, inspiring story of how Adlerian principles come to life in the classroom!
