Adlerian Network Monthly Meeting

Join us for “The Outdoor Life Task:
Reconnecting Social Interest, Spirit, & Planetary Well-being”
presented by Michelle Doerr, M.S.

This presentation introduces the Outdoor Life Task—an evolution of Adler’s foundational life tasks that emphasizes humans’ natural need to connect with and belong to the natural world. Drawing on Adler’s own writing that social feeling may extend “toward animals, plants… and finally the whole cosmos,” this session examines how nature connection promotes holism, lifestyle, social interest, encouragement, and community feeling.

  • Participants will understand how the Outdoor Life Task provides a meaningful way to address modern emotional, social, and ecological issues. For professionals in human services, education, leadership, or environmental fields, this framework offers a strong method to support belonging, reduce isolation, and promote a sense of significance through reciprocal connections with nature and community.

  • Depending on time, the session may also highlight what conservation and environmental professionals are experiencing—burnout, grief, moral injury, isolation, and a deep erosion of community feeling—and show how Adlerian principles provide a compassionate pathway for healing, contribution, and reconnection.

  • We meet on Zoom the first Saturday of most months, beginning at 11 a.m. Eastern time.

You need not be a member to attend the Adlerian Network. Events are free. Send a request for the Zoom link to <AdlerianNetworkMN@gmail.com>
