NASAP celebrates the birth anniversary of our founder, Dr. Rudolf Dreikurs (1897-1972), who tirelessly carried forward the insights of Alfred Adler far into the 20th Century, giving us the legacy opportunity to join together and continue the work of healing the world. Happy Birthday, Dr. D.!
Dreikurs also founded, among others, the Alfred Adler Institute of Chicago (now Adler University). In his honor, the "Institute” created a Founder’s Day on his birthday. The first one was held February 8, 1987 in Chicago. There was a full day of programming, including the first showing of the documentary about his wife and colleague, art therapist Sadie “Tee” Dreikurs. In the live program audience (and contributing recollections) that day were many who had supported and enhanced the efforts of Dr. D., including a co-founder, Dr. Bernard Shulman.
Dr. Harold Mosak, the other co-founder, was unable to attend in person so he recorded a video taped message for that audience. Here is a link to that message, giving some of the founding history, posted on Adlerpedia. https://www.adlerpedia.org/resources/history-founders-day-adler-institute-harold-mosak/
